To the broken-hearted – By H.E. Metropolitan Kirollos, Metropolitan of Milan

To the broken-hearted – By H.E. Metropolitan Kirollos, Metropolitan of Milan

I write this message to you…to the broken-hearted and who has torn feelings… you are hurt and broken…are you waiting for this pain and wounds to come to an end?!

Or did you surrender yourself to distress… and distress burdened you and made you lie on the dust?!

Is what you are in and what you see every second from one painting making you lose the ability to go away from this solitary confinement?!

Get up my son, and rise from the dust…untie yourself from the rope around your neck…

You feel that no one else suffers like you …and there is no one to stand by your side in this universe?!

No son…believe me, you are not alone in this universe…your Creator and the Creator of this universe is around everyone all the time…he never slumbers nor sleeps…you don’t feel or see as you only see your struggle, wounds, and pain.

Meanwhile, there is another person who through his struggle and problems, says: “As I meditate inside me, I see you, my Lord, paying attention to me as if there is no one else but me in this world… You stay up for me all night as if You have forgotten the whole universe…You give me all your gifts as if I am the only one that You love.” St Augustine

Son…I am not trivializing the wounds and troubles that you are having…and you have nothing to do with it…

You are in deep pain…and I want to come to you…talk to you…and I don’t want to stay with you in your deep sorrow…I want you to come out with me away from it…if I would stay with you and share with you the same thoughts about these struggles…what do you think the end is going to be?!

You and I, need a third person to lift us from this dispirit spirit…!

I am talking to you as I know that there is a wound that hurts the skin and another that goes deep down…and a deeper wound that reaches the heart and the feelings…

You have closed all the doors upon yourself…and you have been like this for so long…today, you have to rise up…get up, open the window and look at the sky…reach out and receive a message sent to you from God…listen to God as he is calling Loth and says: “Run for your life”

Your life is quite precious to God…so run for your life…don’t stand in this circle and never look back… run to the mountain so that you won’t perish

Your excessive thinking about troubles and problems will make you lose your life…So you have to listen to God’s voice and run for your life by staying away from this kind of thinking…

You, who is a broken and pain-hearted person…don’t lock yourself up by yourself…your life is so precious to your God, the Creator…and it must be so precious to you too…so don’t kill it yourself… don’t feed it by thinking about the troubles and struggles…and don’t water it by the victimization that is upon you…as that is not its food or water, but it is just a bait and poison for its destruction.

Likewise, my friend…listen with me to this phrase… “Don’t look back”, isn’t this the strongest cure for you!… It will have the strongest effect if you listen to God’s words.

Do you know who is St Paul the Apostol…and how was he? And what he has become? He lived by this concept “Never look back” listen to him while giving us the secret to success “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before”, he was looking at Christ the Redeemer and the Saviour…

You, who have a broken heart…I’m not blaming you, I just want to tell you that your continual thinking about troubles would make you lose the beauty of the present which is in your hands, as once a wise person said “Don’t regret the past…and don’t be anxious to the future…so that you would not lose the beauty of the present”

I wish you would close your eyes for not seeing the trouble…and always look at God who is the Helper for those who seek refuge in Him, and let Him work with you in his own way…either by lifting you up from the struggle or by removing the trouble from your life…

You know that the trouble and pain that you have is from others’ mistakes…and you inherited it and got it or you were put in it…but let me ask you!

Do you know that your continual thinking about the trouble in this way is also a new trouble you make for whoever is around you and whoever sees you?!

The lesson you must know is…never make trouble or pain for yourself or for whoever is around you…

The other lesson that you must succeed in is that you must bring out those who are also in trouble with your patience and thanking for the trouble.
