The monastery was founded by His Grace Bishop Antonious Markos in 2007, under the management of the monk Father Takla El-Samuely.

-The Monastery’s Two Churches
The first church is a large cathedral, named after Saint Mark the Apostle. Its central altar is named after Saint Mark the Apostle. The two altars at the sides are named after Saint Anthony (the father of the monks) and Abba Samuel the Confessor.
The cathedral has a baptism room which contains two baptismal fonts; one for adults and one for children.
The second is a small church with an African design, named after the Virgin Saint Mary. In it is one altar which was consecrated by the late His Holiness Pope Shenouda III.
The Holy Synod declared the decision of the official recognition of the monastery on the 14th of November 2013 which led to great joy.
The monastery was consecrated on the 10th of May 2014 to celebrate the Feast of Saint Mark the Apostle.
