Today, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II attended the closing activities of the basic training course in “Ecclesiastical Management and Development”, which was presented to a total of 44 new priests during forty days after their ordination, at the Logos Center at the Papal Residence in the Monastery of Saint Bishoy in Wadi Natroun. The training was provided by the professors of the Coptic Institute for Ecclesiastical Management and Development, led by Dr Magdy Latif Al-Sindi, Dean of the Institute, from December 24 to 30, 2021.
His Holiness gave a spiritual speech about seven keys to the success of the priest, which are: humility, the Bible, continuous repentance, practical love, setting an example, self-denial, and concern for the ends of things.
His Holiness also conducted a dialogue with the fathers about the extent to which they benefited from the training, and about their lives and their new church service.
The training covered practical concepts and methods in ecclesiastical management and institutional work in the church, the pillars of wise management (good management or wisdom in the church), the principles of development from the Christian perspective, and the role of the priest in managing his spiritual life, his family, and his church service. A group of elders of the priests in Cairo and Alexandria participated in the spiritual axis of training.
It is worth noting that this foundational training for priests in ecclesiastical management was established by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, as it was implemented with four groups of priests who were ordained by His Holiness during the period from 2018-2021.
This training also comes as activation of one of the recommendations of the Eighth Seminar of the Holy Synod, which was held in November 2021 on ecclesiastical management and development.
