H.H. Pope Tawadros II expressed his happiness at the signs of resolving the hardships in the Ethiopian Church with the return of those who made mistakes and tried to separate from the Church to their mother church. This came at the end of the weekly Wednesday sermon.
H.H. also drew attention to our Church’s celebration today of the martyrs of the current era, a feast approved by the Holy Synod eight years ago.
His Holiness’ statement was as follows:
“We pray and thank our Lord that the hardship that the Ethiopian Church experienced are being resolved, as those who made a mistake and wanted to separate and distance themselves and divide the Church and the violence that took place, decided to return to their mother church. The Ethiopian Church matters very much to us, and it is our sister, established by the Coptic Church since the fourth century AD.”
H.H. added: “Today we commemorate a feast, according to the decision of the Holy Synod, which is the “Feast of the Contemporary Martyrs.” We chose this day because it is a memorial to the martyrs of Libya who were martyred about eight years ago.
