His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, during the start of his sermon today in the weekly Wednesday meeting, expressed his happiness for holding a meeting this week in the Church of the Annunciation and the Archangel Gabriel in the Mehwar El Mahmoudiyah in Alexandria, which was consecrated by His Holiness about a year and a half ago, and that he is happy with the efforts of the Egyptian state in developing this region.
His Holiness also congratulated his children on the advent of the glorious Feast of the Transfiguration, and then the Feast of the Virgin Mary.
The text of his speech was as follows:
First of all, I am happy to come to this blessed church, which we consecrated almost a year and a half ago. We were happy with its presence because it serves this region, and we rejoice in the state’s efforts to develop the Mehwar El Mahmudiyah and the great achievements and wonderful development. Congratulations on these renovations and this church.
May God bless the state officials , the political leaders, and the armed forces, which took upon themselves the responsibility of this development, not only in Alexandria, but in all governorates. I am also happy with the presence of the bishops, priests, and we were together throughout yesterday in many services and many meetings, as well as with our father, the Patriarchal vicar, Fr Abram, and it is a great blessing to be with you today and to take your blessing.
I also congratulate you on the Feast of the Transfiguration next Saturday, and the Feast of the Virgin Mary next Tuesday, and the Feast of the Transfiguration is the last feast that pertains to the Lord Christ in the church year, and we conclude with the Feast of the Virgin Mary. Then we start the Coptic New Year on the 12th of September and the glorious feast of Nayrouz. Happy New Year, and may God always fill your life with feasts and joys.
Also, the honorable priests fathers in this church with the deacons with H.G. Bishop Hermina and their broad service in these areas, which requires servants and very hard work, may God strengthen you.
