H.H. Pope Tawadros II expressed the rejection and denunciation of the Coptic Church and the Holy Synod of what is happening in Palestine, pointing out that what is happening in this war has no form of equality.
This came before he delivered the sermon at the weekly Wednesday meeting, which he held this evening in Saint George’s Church; Ard El Geneina in Al-Zawia Al-Hamra, affiliated with the East Railway Churches sector in Cairo.
Pope Tawadros said: “Our hearts are filled with pain from what is happening on the land of Gaza and the large number of victims, including martyrs, the dead, the injured, the wounded, families, and displaced persons, and extremely cruel violence.
In the name of the Coptic Church and in the name of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church, we condemn these atrocities.”
He added: “The media conveys scenes of extreme pain and difficulty, then the attack that took place on the Baptist Hospital, which is considered the largest hospital providing health care. International laws prohibit attacks on hospitals even during wars, so attacking this hospital where people receive treatment and health care is a matter that exceeds imagination in its brutality and the number of victims left behind of this sudden attack.”
His Holiness continued: “We pray that God will give peace, tranquility, and wisdom, and protect our people and brothers in the Gaza Strip and the sectors of Palestine. In this war between the Israelis and the Palestinians, we pray that God will grant them wisdom.”
He noted: “Human life is the most precious thing God has given to man, but for man to destroy life himself is a great evil before God, and we believe that God will pour out His mercy and tenderness on all wounded and suffering hearts.”
