This evening, Thursday, H.H. Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Residence in Cairo, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and the Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, and His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Armenian Orthodox Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia in Antelias, Lebanon, and the delegation accompanying each of them.

This meeting preceeded the meetings of the heads of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in the Middle East, which will be held in Cairo, hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Church.

The past few days witnessed preparatory meetings by delegations from the three Churches that are members of the permanent committee, where Dr. Girgis Saleh, Coordinator of relations between the Churches of the Middle East led the meeting’s secretariat.

H.H. Pope Tawadros II sent His Eminence Metropolitan Thomas, Metropolitan of Al-Qusiya and Mir, His Grace Bishop Angelos, General Bishop of the churches of Northern Shoubra, His Grace Bishop Eklimandos, General Bishop of the churches of Almaza, Al Amal City and East Nasr City and Dr. Girgis Saleh, Coordinator of relations between the Churches of the Middle East, to welcome the heads of the two Churches at Cairo Airport.
