POP Establishment:
The Coptic Orthodox church established in 1962 the Bishoperic of public ecumenical and social services BLESS, and since then and up to date the bishoperic has been taking a leading role in serving the poor and disadvantaged communities.
However, after the 2011 revolution in Egypt, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II was very concerned and was against the increasing number of Christians immigrating. To encourage people to stay in their home land, it was necessary to support their basic living needs, and ensure people find good schools for their children and good health services when needed. From this perception his holiness has established the Papal office for Projects in 2013 and under his direct supervision to go hand in hand with BLESS in serving our community. POP supports projects in different fields of service. However, it places particular focus on supporting initiatives that promote the provision of quality health and education services, and build capacities within the Coptic Orthodox Church to better serve the world, as well as responding to the humanitarian needs.
H.H. Pope Tawadros II Message:
The Papal Office for Projects since its establishment in 2013, has been playing a great role in supporting the needs of the Egyptian community.
During the past eight years the office has implemented various projects and programs and has been encouraging all dioceses and churches in both cities and villages to implement projects that enhances education and health. The office achievements today are well noticed both at upper and lower Egypt.
My regards and appreciation to everyone who cooperates with us and supports the office activities. It’s through your generous support that we manage to continue our social role towards our society and ensure a better life to the vulnerable.

“The mission of the POP is to promote and support interventions that contribute to building human capabilities, and to strengthening the institutional capacity of the Church to fulfill its mandate in serving the world”.

POP Key Strategies:
1.Building human capabilities with particular focus on improving the provision of health and education services for all. The POP promotes the construction of education and health care facilities; and provides technical guidance and capacity building to partners for their management and sustainable operation.
2.Strengthening Church institutional capacities in leadership and governance, and enhancing scholarship about the Coptic Church to preserve the Coptic heritage and identity;
3.Building partnerships and collaborative initiatives with local and global, governmental and non-governmental entities in order to provide support and services to all.

POP delivers the Lord’s teachings within us and show His endless love to everyone through humbly giving the needy help and support in fulfilling their basic needs ensuring they live in dignity while receiving quality education and health services. Our projects and programs are achieved through our loyal servants who sincerely carefully study and implement all our projects, through the donations received from our valuable partners.
